SCS Financial has about $20 billion in assets with offices across the country. All of the research is run out of their Boston office. The firm tends to have a very tight list of recommended managers and strategies across private equity, private credit, private real estate, and hedge funds. Evoke Wealth is the old Luminous team that spun out of First Republic last year. They are based in Santa Monica. The team is now managing about $4.5 billion in assets. The senior leaders are David Hou, Mark Sear, Kim Ip. They have been together since their days at Merrill Lynch. They are very active in private investments. They are largely credited for building the private investment platform at First Republic. They were each members of the alternative investment committee while at the bank. They are actively internally sourcing their own strategies. Ones that they would want to invest in, across all sub asset classes, within alternatives. Then they are leveraging their asset base to negotiate fee breaks. This is now a very interesting new pool of capital for alternatives. Many of their clients who came over with them from First Republic, have private assets that are still held at First Republic and locked on the Altair platform. So, expect Evoke’s AUM to steadily increase as those investments enter and conclude the disposition phase of the lifecycle. read less
